Woodward City Release Custody
City of Woodward arrests and county jail custody are two parts of one local path. A May 18, 2026 City Commission agenda addresses an interlocal detention agreement with Woodward County for city arrestees. No official source reviewed for this project identified a separate city jail, city booking roster, or city release archive. A person arrested by Woodward Police may therefore have a police incident record at the city and a booking and discharge record at Woodward County Jail.
This split changes where each question goes. The city police record can describe the arrest or incident. The county jail register answers whether and how physical custody there ended. The legal case may be in Municipal Court for a city-code charge or in District Court for a state-law charge. The official interlocal-agreement agenda supports the local arrangement, but it is not a list of people held or released.
Confirm a Woodward City Release
Begin with the county jail because it controls the physical custody record. Call 580-256-3264, extension 2, give the person's full name and known identifiers, and ask whether the booking is still active. If not, ask whether the record says community release, transfer, or another disposition. “Not here” does not answer where the person went. Request the effective date and time and the receiving agency for any transfer.
Then identify the legal forum. Use the committing authority, case number, and charge type rather than guessing from the arresting officer's agency. Follow these steps:
- Ask Woodward County Jail for the booking status, discharge manner, and case or booking number.
- For a city-code matter, contact Woodward Municipal Court and review its latest case event.
- For a state misdemeanor or felony, use the Woodward County District Court Clerk, ODCR, or OSCN.
- If the jail reports a transfer, check the named receiving agency instead of calling it community release.
A court order can authorize bond, dismissal, or release. It does not establish the minute that jail checks and paperwork ended. The jail discharge entry is the operational record; the court file is corroboration for the legal basis.

An official or certified copy should come from the clerk when exact wording matters.

Woodward City Release Records
The county jail is the custodian for its own booking and discharge entry. A narrow Oklahoma Open Records Act request should identify the person, approximate booking range, arresting agency, case or booking number, and precise fields sought. Useful fields include booking date and time, commitment cause and authority, discharge date and time, discharge manner, liberating instrument reference, and receiving agency. Ask whether an existing booking photograph is available, without claiming that release is guaranteed.
51 O.S. §24A.8(A)(8) addresses jail-register information, if kept, including date or manner of discharge or escape. It supports a request to the sheriff, not a demand that City Hall create a county record. A police-report request is separate. The City FAQ describes city police reports as usually ready within five working days, but that statement must not be applied to the county jail's discharge record. Woodward County publishes no local release-record fee schedule or promised turnaround. Call sheriff administration to confirm the current custodian, accepted request method, and likely charge before submission.

Woodward Municipal Bond Releases
Woodward publishes a detailed municipal bail schedule for listed city offenses, and city code addresses how bail is set for unlisted municipal offenses with costs added. This material concerns Municipal Court offenses. It does not set District Court felony or state-misdemeanor bonds, and it does not establish that any named person was booked, paid bond, or left the county jail.
Bond is one step in a release process. A receipt or order may show that the financial or judicial condition was met. Jail staff may still need to match the booking, verify the order, check other holds or warrants, complete records, return approved property, and close physical custody. Ask the jail for actual discharge status before travel or pickup.
Read the official Woodward municipal bail schedule only in the context of the exact city charge. When a case is in District Court, use that court's file and the bond instrument in that case. Court and jail records should agree on identity and case number even though their timestamps may differ.

A police report should not be presented as a county jail discharge record. Likewise, a court disposition should not be labeled as the physical exit time. Keeping the source name beside each fact makes a later correction much easier.
After Woodward County Discharge
When the jail states that the person entered ODOC, another jail, USMS, or ICE custody, continue with that system. An ODOC search is useful only if a state sentence or supervision record exists. BOP serves federal sentenced prisoners. ICE's locator covers immigration custody within its rules, while USMS has no BOP-style historical public name locator for federal pretrial movement.
If the jail reports release to the community, check the newest case event for conditions, future dates, and any supervision term. Probation can follow a suspended or deferred sentence without proving a prior prison release. Parole is conditional release from a prison sentence and requires ODOC and Pardon and Parole Board sources. Neither status can be inferred from the city police report.

None of those labels should be converted into a jail exit time without the county discharge entry. A precise timeline protects the distinction between legal authority and the facility event.
